MOOREA - The Enchantress
As spectacular as any island that rises from the Pacific, Moorea is everyone's dream of a Polynesian paradise. Often thought to be James Michener's mythical "Bali Hai," it is a magical island of savage yet captivating beauty where emerald mountains rise from sandy shores, towering over pineapple plantations, ivory beaches, and shady lagoons. Moorea is one of the Windward islands of French Polynesia. A deep channel of 17km (11 miles) large separates Moorea from the main island of Tahiti. This island is one of the most spectacular tropical islands in the world. Sharp peaks overlook deep valleys and emerald lagoons team with brightly coloured fish. This vacation playground has an abundance of white sandy beaches, amongst majestic coconut palms. Cooled by the gentle breezes of the Pacific, the climate of Moorea is sunny and pleasant with two main seasons: December to February is hot and moist with temperatures ranging from 70F (22C) to 89F (32C). March through to November is warm and dry, 68F (19C) to 70F (22C). Rains fall mainly during the hot season.
